Japan’s first farm-to-bottle distillery.
Kiyokawa are pioneering the evolution of Japanese whisky with their innovative farm-to-bottle approach that sees them grow their own barley and support local farming communities at their Iiyama Mountain Farm Distillery.
Nestled high up in the mountains of Nagano, known to many as the Japanese Alps, Kiyokawa have overcome nature’s challenges by developing a hybrid barley breed resilient to the region’s extreme conditions, setting a new standard for quality and innovation.
The distillery’s rich malted barley, fresh and pure spring mountain water, is matured in casks through the changing seasons where it is exposed to atmospheric pressure changes and high variations in a single day, resulting in a more intense take up of the wood’s flavour and natural colour.
Working with dekantã, the world’s leading online retailer for fine and rare Japanese whisky, we visited the distillery where we captured a number of content assets then produced a campaign leveraging owned and earned media to help them tell their story.
